The Festival is exciting to both writers and readers, providing insight into the life of an author, and the growth of his work.
The 2011 lineup of authors includes 2010 Scotiabank Giller and Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize nominee Alexander MacLeod, spoken-word artist and 2010 Poet Laureate of Halifax Shauntay Grant, and poet, novelist, and 2010 Giller Prize winner Johanna Skibsrud.
Friday opening reception: Shauntay Grant reads new poems commissioned by the Festival and inspired by the large iron sculpture of Gordon Kennedy. His dynamic works are on display during the readings.
Saturday: the featured authors conduct workshops and discussions for both readers and writers. Lunch included.
Saturday evening: readings from Alexander MacLeod and Johanna Skibsrud. Afterward, Alec Frith (of Gypsophilia) entertains. Cash bar. The very popular Readers' Market is open.
Sunday: a panel discussion featuring Johanna Skibsrud and Alexander MacLeod, followed by Sunday Brunch, then singer-songwriter Angelo Spinazzola.
