Candle in the Window Vintage Museum At the height of naval transport, Port George earned the reputation of a prosperous shipping town. That heritage is commemorated at this museum, which depicts history dating back to the 1700's all the way to the present day. The Hon. Charles R. Prescott built this gracious Georgian-style house about 1814 and surrounded it with extensive gardens. He introduced better varieties of apples and established the Fruit Growers' Association. His great-grand daughter restored the house in the 1930s and added her collection of early needlework samplers and what is considered to be one of the best collection of tribal Oriental carpets in Canada.
