In the 1880s Alexander MacKay's water-powered Grist Mill was responsible for grinding wheat, oats, barley, rye and buckwheat. Being only one of a few mills in the area the Balmoral Grist Mill provided critically important supplies of flour and oatmeal. Today it is one of the few operating mills left in the province. Visit Balmoral and see flour being ground, examine the Mill's machinery, and take a picnic in the picturesque setting.
