This is a small island off the coast of Canso on the very eastern point of Nova Scotia. This was once the site of a major fishery and community settled by New Englanders in the 18th Century. The trip here starts at the Visitors Reception Area on the mainland, there is a museum and various exhibits about the community here. A boat then takes visitors out to the island where there is an interpretive trail linking various points of interest

This historic site, also called the Grassy Island Fort, is accessible via a short boat ride and features the ruins of an 18th century fortification, as well as a fishing station. The site was once a thriving community, and visitors today have the chance to browse through this significant area.
